Dear Members of the Deaf Community,
We are pleased to inform you about our recent attendance at the Presidential Candidate Discussion organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). This event provided a unique platform to discuss key areas that impact the lives of Deaf Namibians and seek commitments from presidential candidates to support the rights and inclusion of our community.
Thanks to Japet David, Hilaria Shiilamo and Helao Haihambo who joined NNAD with questions to the candidates. It indeed shows that our youth need changes and this change can only be gained if we all go out in number and vote wisely.
It’s the 21st century and you are smart enough to be fooled by a politician with mere promises. You are capable to demand action and not just words.
To those who turned up, thank you! Bring a friend with a friend next time. Our collective measure is to make sure we come in number whenever free participation is offered and stand up to demand our collective voice to be heard.
The event was a significant step towards ensuring that the issues affecting the Deaf community are addressed by future leaders. We are hopeful that the commitments made by the presidential candidates will lead to tangible changes that improve the lives of Deaf Namibians.
A big thanks to Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and The Namibia newspaper for organising this event, we would also like to thank the presenter who constantly noticed our presence, that of interpreters and recognised the services of the SL interpreter! Denver Kisting you are a star!!!
We will continue to advocate for our rights and keep you updated on any further developments. Your support and participation are crucial in our ongoing efforts to achieve equality and inclusion for all Deaf individuals in Namibia.
Best regards,
Paul
