Executive Summary:
2 September 2023, saw the Parliament of Namibia presented with a motion from the deputy honorable Minister, Disability Affairs asking the august house to consider recognition of the Namibian Sign Language as a national Language.
18 September 2023, vice Chairperson of the Namibian National Association of the Deaf announced a country-wide march in support of the motion presented to the parliament by the Deputy Minister of Disability Affairs.
Deaf members from Windhoek marched to the Zoo Park in Windhoek and handed over a petition to the Secretary to the National Assembly. A letter acknowledging our petition has been received from the National Assembly.
